THE All-Africa Challenge Trophy, A and G Page, and the Zimbabwe Open will headline this year’s Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union 2015 calendar.The three events will be the major highlights in a year that also has some top annual national tournaments like the Matabeleland, Manicaland and Midlands ZLGU Strokeplay.
The AACT will be held in Botswana from June 2-11 and players who will make the team will also have an opportunity to fight for honours in the Botswana Open.
Zimbabwe will have an opportunity to host the A and B Triangular Series from July 16-22 at Chapman. The event was last won by South Africa, who usually dominate, but Zimbabwe has been improving with each passing year. Yollandah Mubaiwa impressed in several international last year.
The season will begin with the Mashonaland East Championships at Country Club and next month the ZLGU Inter-provincials at Gweru Golf Club will be held in the Midlands capital. The Matabeleland Strokeplay will be held earlier in March and the Midlands Strokeplay will be held from April 21-22 and the Manicaland Strokeplay in September. The last ZLGU event will be the ZLGU Matchplay at Royal Harare in October.
Meanwhile, in the amateur battles, Thembelani Vundhla is in control of the local order of merit after the Dougmore Trophy. Vundhla of Chapman has accumulated 246 points in as many events and is in the race to make the Zone VI championships team.
In second place is Tonderai Masunga on 245 while Stuart Krog is third on 236. Visitor Mapwanya (220), Doctor Maphosa (216) and Kieran Vincent (202) complete the top six.
