FORMER CAPS United captain Steven Matakuta is hopeful FC Hunters will win the Pacific Storm ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League promotion ticket.
The Marondera side are under the guidance of coach Clifford Dzvairo and have a two-point advantage over Masvingo United in the title race with four matches to go.
FC Hunters were ruthless when they walloped St Paul’s Musami 7-0 on Sunday as close contenders Masvingo United were held to a 0-0 draw at Renco Mine.
Third-placed Tenax were also held to a goalless draw by Mutare City.
Makatuka, who made his name at Makepekepe, is now providing the soul of the defence for the Marondera outfit.
The lanky defender joined FC Hunters during the mid-season transfer window.
“I am happy and we are looking forward to promotion, especially after the 7-0 win against struggling St Paul’s Musami.
“It was a good win and we played as a team and that will give us confidence ahead of the last games.
“We are looking forward to continuing doing well and gaining promotion. The team started the season well and they are keeping on grinding results, which is important,” said Makatuka.
FC Hunters have some tricky four assignments ahead.
They will visit Renco Mine next week before hosting Masvingo United and they have a trip to Tenax.
