“I am now a happy man. I was told that they finally cleared me and I am hoping that they will be faxing the document to my team anytime this week because I want to play,” he said.
Makonese joined Black Leopards in December on a six-month contract where he is expected to prove himself to the coaching staff to earn an extension.
“I am looking forward to playing for Black Leopards as a defender, my preferred position, and help them survive relegation. I want also to make a mark when we play Motor Action in the Confederation Cup. I have played them when I was in Zimbabwe and I know how they play and we are coming there fully prepared for them,” said Makonese in a telephone interview yesterday.
Shabanie Mine chairman Webster Chitono confirmed that they had written a clearance letter in favour of Makonese.
