DIAGO Makurumidze is set to pen a two-year deal with Castle Lager Premier Soccer League new boys Sheasham.

The forward was in the books of CAPS United and his contract is set to expire on Saturday.

The 19-year-old made more than 10 appearances at Makepekepe in the just-ended season.

Makurumidze’s manager, Joshua Mukarati, said that the player is not going to renew his contract with CAPS United.

“A number of clubs have requested his services, but we have settled for Sheasham. They are the new boys and we believe Diago will also add quality to their team.

“From our camp, we believe Diago has definitely has what it takes to be successful at Sheasham. He proved at CAPS that he can be an instrumental player that can be counted on,” said Mukarati.

“For a team that will deploy him as an attacking midfielder, we are likely to see him expressing his brilliance with the ball again. We saw that last season when he stepped up and played a crucial role in Makepekepe’s campaign.

“We are now focused on completing the deal by January 3. We are negotiating a two-year deal, which shows the boy’s commitment to the team.

“We don’t want a situation where our player just goes there, and it doesn’t matter if the team returns to Division One. He has to fight with others for the team to stay afloat.”

“We would also like to thank his coaches at CAPS United for what he is. They cultivated a good working culture in the boy. The boy is already a hard worker and always focused on his work.

“His discipline will take him far. Even when CAPS United were in a crisis and the other boys were boycotting, he was always available for the team. He will always be ready to come back as it is the home that gave him the opportunity on the biggest stage.”

Makurumidze, who joined CAPS United from Division Two outfit, Avondale Athletic, said the just-ended season has taught him some real-life lessons. “For me, it was a good season. The season had a lot of twists and turns. We experienced good and bad moments as a team.

“Through all the ups and downs, I learnt to be strong in all those hard situations. It was difficult having a long losing streak.

“There was a lot of pressure as CAPS is a big team and the fans will always be looking for results from the team,” said Makurumuidze.
