A HARARE man was found in unlawful possession of 80 live rounds of ammunition which he was selling on the black market.
Chalington Tichaona Muchero claimed the ammunition belonged to his late father.
He appeared in court yesterday.
Allegations are that on Monday, detectives from CID Homicide received information that Muchero was selling firearms and ammunition.
The police waylaid and arrested Muchero at a car wash in Chitungwiza.
They recovered a 9mm blow P9 air gun, with one live round in a brown bag, a knife, handcuffs and a baton stick inscribed force number 049234D.
He also had a leather briefcase in the boot and claimed the code to open it was at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks.
Muchero, however, opened the briefcase at the police station and it contained his personal documents and those of his late father, Pride Charles Muchero.
There were also 10 12-bore live rounds, 17 19mm live rounds, 50 7.6mm live rounds, two firearm certificates issued on June 27 last year in his name for legal disposal of a 9mm tokarev pistol and a 12-bore shotgun.
The State alleged that he never instituted the legal disposal of the firearms.
