A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Esigodini in Matabeleland South province has been nabbed for stealing a vehicle from a funeral parlour.
Sean Ndlovu was caught by an alert driver who is employed at Doves Funeral parlour. Circumstances are that on 18 January 2025 at around 9 pm, at the Doves Funeral Service premises in Bulawayo, a company driver who was leaving the premises noticed that the company ambulance, a Toyota Hiace which was parked along Josiah Tongogara street was being reversed.
The driver noted that the vehicle was being reversed into a side parking lot along the same road and its lights were on. He got suspicious as all the drivers had gone to a funeral and the keys of the vehicle which was being reversed had been missing.
He approached the vehicle and noticed Ndlovu who went on to switch off the lights and locked himself inside the vehicle.
The driver ordered Ndlovu to open the doors and he complied. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the culprit.
Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and urged the public to report any suspicious occurrences.
“We confirm the arrest of the accused person in connection to a case of theft of a motor vehicle. The vigilance of the driver led to the recovery of the vehicle before it went far and led to the arrest of the accused person. We urge members of the public to be alert and to take care of their property,” she said.
