A WOMAN says her ex-lover is demanding her to repay him all the money he used during the course of their relationship.
Pamela Mudondo told the Harare Civil Court that Tawanda Kuwanza has been assaulting her and demanding that she repay him for all the expenses he incurred during their relationship.
“He would constantly text me, threatening to harm me if I did not pay him back.
“Sometimes, he even shows up at my workplace, causing a scene, and embarrassing me in front of my colleagues.
“I no longer have peace because each time he sees me, he assaults me,” she said.
In response, Tawanda did not dispute the allegations.
He said that he feels he is entitled for reimbursement for the financial investment he made during their relationship.
“I spent a lot of money on her, taking her on trips and buying her expensive gifts.
“I feel like she owes me for all that I did for her.”
Magistrate Meenal Naratom expressed concern over Tawanda’s behaviour, emphasising that no one is entitled to demand payment from their partner for expenses incurred during a relationship.
“The fact that you spent money on her does not give you the right to assault her or demand reimbursement.”
The court granted Pamela a protection order, barring Tawanda from contacting or approaching her.
