A 45-year-old Harare man has been sentenced to an effective four years in prison for robbery.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the Harare Magistrates’ Court heard that on February 19, 2026, at around 10am, the offender approached the victim while brandishing a knife and launched an attack.

He stabbed the victim in the palm as he demanded cash. The victim sustained a deep cut and surrendered US$25 and a 100ml bottle of perfume valued at US$25.

Police officers who were on patrol arrested the accused shortly after the incident. The court sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment, with one year suspended, leaving him to serve an effective four-year jail term.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said violent crime is treated seriously and reaffirmed that the criminal justice system remains committed to holding offenders accountable.
