A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo has been taken to court and charged with unlawful possession and wearing of a Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) military fatigue.

For the offence Desire Madzikanda appeared before magistrate Ernest Muzembe.

He pleaded not guilty and was convicted after a full trial. He was sentenced to pay a fine of US$200 or three months’ imprisonment suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard that on 28 November 2024, the accused went to his place of work at Springs Mine in Umguza District, wearing a full military uniform. While at work, Madzikanda paraded around, showing off his uniform to his workmates while conducting his duties.

The police received a tip-off that the accused was wearing camouflage and investigations were made leading to his arrest.
