Man rapes daughter (4) in front of siblings

A 38-year-old man from Mberengwa has been jailed for 18 years after he raped his four-year-old daughter in the presence of her two siblings.

The man committed the heinous crime after his wife had gone to fetch water leaving him with the children.

Regional magistrate Morgan Nemadire said the manas actions were evil and that a custodial sentence was necessary in the circumstances.

He will, however, spend 15 years in prison after three years were conditionally suspended.

a?You are a wicked man who does not deserve to be called a father. How can you rape your own daughter in front of your two other children? Your wife left you with custody of the children because she trusted you, but you betrayed her and your children as well,a? said Nemadire.

The court heard that on January 3 this year at around 10am the girlas mother left to fetch water about 300 metres away from home leaving her and her two brothers in the custody of their father.

The man called the children into the kitchen hut where he raped his daughter while her two brothers, whose ages were not given in court papers, watched.

In the evening, when the girl went outside to relieve herself, her mother heard her screaming, and upon inquiring her daughter revealed the rape ordeal.

She physically examined her and discovered some bruises and discharge on the girlas privates.

The girlas mother made a report at Buchwa police station leading to the arrest of her husband.
