AN 18-year-old married woman was raped after she was found drunk and naked in her bedroom by her nephew in Mbare.
The woman retired to bed whilst drunk on Monday at around 0500 hours and her husband woke up and went to work leaving her asleep.
After her husband left, the woman woke up took two pints of Hunter’s beer became drunk again, and retired to bed.
Whilst asleep she heard a knock on the door and asked who was knocking, however, the nephew Tendai Rukono did not answer, instead, he opened the door and got into the room.
The woman lifted her head and greeted Tendai and went back to sleep.
Tendai went on to rape her and she disclosed the case to her husband.
The husband and family members later engaged Tendai in a bid to ascertain what had transpired and he admitted to having committed the offence and escaped.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case appealing for information that may lead to his arrest.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving relatives in Mbare.
“The complainant was reported to have been found visibly drunk by the accused person and raped her once without protection.
The complainant was escorted to Edith MSF Clinic for medical examination and the accused person was not located,” said Insp Chakanza.
