A MBERENGWA man has been dragged to court facing charges of sexually abusing his married daughter whom he also attempted to rape, claiming it was a ritual he was ordered to do by a traditional healer in order to amass wealth.
The man (38) who could not be named to protect the daughter, is from Hlatini Village under Chief Mahlebadza. Last week, he appeared before Mberengwa magistrate Ms Evia Matora facing charges of indecent assault. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to Wednesday for continuation of trial.
Prosecutor Ms Wadzanai Shayanowako told the court that on 29 November last year the man unlawfully and intentionally committed an act of indecent assault on his 17-year-old daughter. Ms Shayanowako said on the day, the man seized an opportunity when he was left with the daughter after his wife had travelled.
The court heard that at around 10pm, he went to his daughter’s bedroom hut where ordered her to sit on the bed before he pulled her blouse off. The court heard that the man started applying some herbs all over the daughter’s body including her breasts and private parts without her consent. The prosecutor told the court that the man then ordered the daughter to drink some medicine which was sour which he got from a traditional healer.
The court also heard that the accused person who was wearing his boxer shorts also ordered the complainant who was now naked to sleep on her back. He attempted to rape her but she wrestled him and managed to escape. The man followed her and gave her $2 so that she would not report the matter to anyone. The daughter stunned the court while testifying accusing his father of using mubobobo on her.
“I see him in my visions having sex with me. I no longer feel like having sex with my own husband,” she said.
The matter came to the fore last year when the daughter told her mother who reported to the police leading to the father’s arrest.
According to the accused’s testimony, he went to a traditional healer who gave him the herbs that were to be applied on his daughter so that he gets rich.
