THE man accused of murdering his wife, niece and his village head in Hurungwe last week, tried to commit suicide when he was about to be arrested.

Trymore Tore, 37, stabbed himself four times when he was about to be arrested.

Tore’s killing spree has left the villagers in a state of shock.

Mashonaland West Provincial Police Spokesman, Inspector Ian Kohwera, said:

“When they were about to apprehend him, he withdrew an okapi knife from his trousers pocket and stabbed himself four times on the chest and twice on the neck.

“The team managed to apprehend him and recovered the Okapi knife,” said Insp Kohwera.

He added:

“He was rushed to Chivende Clinic.

“An ambulance was then summoned and he was rushed to Karoi District Hospital where he was further transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital,” said Insp Kohwera.

A row between Tore and his wife ended in a bloodbath as the enraged husband went on a killing spree and murdered his wife, niece and the village head.

The decapitated head of the village head was found by some villagers as it was being dragged by a dog.

The three people were killed at a village just three kilometres from Kabiza Shopping Centre.

The triple murder sparked outrage and shock in the usually quiet village.
