The hosts had taken a 19-run lead from the first innings after restricting the Mountain Goats to 219 runs and then putting on 238 on the board, thanks to Elton Chigumbura’s ton in the first innings.
Gumunyu-Manatsa was the pick of the Eagles bowlers with seven match wickets to his name.
He took 4/33 in the first innings and then finished with 3/9 from five overs yesterday. Jarvis had 4-18 and finished with five match wickets to his credit after a brilliant spell.
Eagles had faltered in the first innings but Chigumbura helped them through with a magnificent knock of 121 runs from 176 deliveries, on a day many of his colleagues failed to bloom.
Tail-ender Jarvis was the second highest scorer with 35 while the rest fell below the 15-run mark. Mountaineers’ Shingi Masakadza did the damage with 6/54 in 20 overs while Donald Tiripano weighed in with a brace.
But with the game still capable of going either way, Mountaineers crumbled yesterday after resuming on 35/5. They continued with the slide from the previous day with Chigumbura taking three wickets to help wrap up the game inside three days.
The visitors batted woefully with Benjamin Katsande (10), Prosper Utseya (11) and Tendai Chatara making the highest contributions. Set an easy target of 37 runs Eagles lost three wickets but Stuart Matsikenyeri’s quickfire 18 from 12 deliveries and Ryan Bishop (15*) saw the Eagles home with a bonus point.
