And, suddenly, there is life in the CAPS United family with some players, who had appeared disgruntled in the past few weeks, now wearing different faces.
Mangwiro is quite aware of the task at hand after he faced Kelvin Kaindu’s charges at Barbourfields with Monomotapa in the first half of the season and was hammered 3-0.
Well, he has crossed the floor to the Harare giants, who also found the going tough against Highlanders and lost 1-0 in Bulawayo.
Speaking at the club’s weekly media briefings yesterday, Magwiro said he was ready to meet Bosso after a week working the Green Machine.
“It was a good working week and we are looking forward to the weekend game. It appears as if everything was normal, we didn’t find anyone on the down side and sessions have gone on really well and what is important is to get positive results.
“We should be ready to play any team and Highlanders have done very well but it doesn’t make them invincible. There is always a first time for everything and come Saturday it could be CAPS United.
“We know it won’t be any easy game,” said Mangwiro.
But the soft-spoken coach, one of the brightest young mentors in the league, paid tribute to the previous coaches and said he has found a well-assembled team and fans should not expect wholesome changes.
“From our own observation, our predecessors had done a very great job in assembling the team and don’t expect us to make some radical changes or a complete overhaul.
“If we were not content with the material available we would not have accepted the job.
“We cannot say we want to be at the top. We shouldn’t be dreaming but we have to be realistic. It is not going to be easy. And I know fully well the task at hand and I am not chickening out,” said Mangwiro.
The coach says he will wrap up his training sessions today and will see which players would have made it into the final team.
The technical department is still to assess the Warriors duo of Rahman Kutsanzira and Blessing Zabula who played against Zambia in Ndola on Wednesday night.
The duo of Marvel Samaneka and Nyasha Mukumbi are also on the injury list and are being closely monitored before the high-profile match.
Samaneka turned back the hands of time with a blinder in the Harare Derby.
Makepekepe assistant coach, Mkhupali “Mr Cooper” Masuku, who was with Highlanders last season, says they will play their own game tomorrow and won’t be under pressure to deliver against the Bulawayo outfit.
“It would be like any other game played by the team even though Highlanders haven’t lost a match,” said Masuku.
“It should be an exciting game. I have nothing against Highlanders and have nothing to prove and it’s only that I am now at CAPS United.
“I have been watching the team whenever they played at home in Bulawayo and obviously I know one or two things about the team but we will use our own tactics, the ones we have been using this week at training,” said Masuku.
CAPS United skipper Tapiwa Kumbuyani said the players were focused and believes it’s possible they will become the first team to beat Highlanders this season.
“Morale is high and everybody is giving hundred percent and they want to play. We think we are going to be the first team to beat Highlanders because everyone is working hard,” said Kumbuyani.
