THE Peter Dombropoulos-led Manicaland Sports and Recreation Development Committee has hit the ground running with the approval of a budget for the province’s participation in this year’s National Youth Games today.
Manicaland will join nine other provinces in the Mashonaland East capital of Marondera for this year’s edition of the annual multi-sport discipline extravaganza to be held in August.
Speaking to Post Sport after the meeting, the prominent farmer and former multitalented sports personality, Dombropoulos said: “Today’s meeting was a very helpful and we had good deliberations where we managed to have approval for our budget for the Youth Games and the Paralympic Games.
“The transparency and honest that we witnessed during the approval process was very encouraging. We now just now need to implement our budget and stick to our guidelines. I think we are on a good footing. Our time is a bit limited but I am sure we can push through it. Hopefully we will have a good report on the progress of our budget in our next meeting,” he said.
The Zimbabwe National Youth Games will return on the country’s sporting calendar this year, with Mashonaland East being the host, exactly six years after the interprovincial sports competition was stalled by the Covid-19 pandemic.
