NORMAN Mapeza believes champions Simba Bhora pose the biggest threat to their unbeaten start to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
With their Matchday 17 game against Dynamos abandoned, FC Platinum will get all points and officially finish the first half of the season unbeaten. They are the only team with an unbeaten record after newcomers MWOS’ defeat at Ngezi Platinum Stars on Sunday.
MWOS’ defeat saw Simba Bhora take over at the summit of the log standings.
Joel Luphahla’s side currently enjoy an 11-point lead over FC Platinum, excluding the 3-0 win Mapeza’s team will get from the Dynamos game, and the Zvishavane miners will be under immense pressure to narrow the gap.
“It’s not going to be an easy game for us. They have been one of the best teams so far this season…if you look at their performances, whether they are playing at home or playing away, they have been playing some brilliant football,” said Mapeza.
“They have got so much quality in their team and I think Joe has done very well and you can tell that now there is an understanding between him and the players.
“That’s why they are getting those massive results, either at home or away, so it is not going to be an easy game.”
He added:
“We are playing at home, we need to maximise our home advantage and see what happens but it’s not going to be easy, a hell of a difficult game.
“We still have Brian (Banda) still out, Divine (Mhindirira) is still out, then last week we had Misheck (Ngwenya) on suspension for three yellow cards. Besides those two we do not have any other injury concerns.
“To our fans, I think I just have to repeat what I have always been talking about, let’s keep that bond growing, let’s have belief in each other, let’s keep supporting.”
