Marist School revolutionises e-learning

These words have managed to keep motivating and encouraging a group of students from Marist Brothers Nyanga who emerged victorious in the

2014 Junior Achievement Company of the year entrepreneurial competition.

The event was attended by the following schools from across the country Kriste Mambo, Saint Faiths, ZRP High, Mpopoma, Mount Pleasant, Bulawayo Founders, Mzilikazi, Dominican Convent, Harare Girls High, Chaplin, Saint Johns Chikwaka, High Field High and Prince Edward. Marist Brothers’ Verity Holdings Company which operates under the auspicious of Junior Achievement Zimbabwe earned itself the top spot in the country after presenting on their daring and sterling project dubbed Shasha.

With the advent of the digital revolution which includes the current Information Age and Internet, the students have managed to combine technology and entrepreneurship and have taken techno-prenuership to greater heights at a tender age .

With the help of their consultancy outfit IDEAZIM Lvt Ltd they sought to make an online Zimbabwean notebook and seminar facility which students nationwide can simply access by using the link www.shashaiseminar.com <http://www.shashaiseminar.com>.

The platform will include syllabi from a wide range of subjects for both ordinary and advanced level students, a career guidance section, a news hub that will feature the latest student based news and a creativity centre for cultural arts such as debate and public speaking which are sure to help the Zimbabwean student become fully equipped for the future. The website also provides an advertising section for all businesses, societies and organisations that have the contemporary high school students as their targeted market.

Verity Holdings specifically chose to do this project following up on the clarion call by Government to boost e-learning.

The Government has set an ambitious objective to take e-learning to the 8000 schools in the country by this year 2015. With initiatives such as this one by the Nyanga High school students ,the nation is rest assured that this objective is realisable.

Staying true to their formidable motto the company believes in, truth, reality and transparency in all their business manoeuvres. It comprises of 18 students who are led by a C.E.O and four directors. Verity Holdings is the reigning Manicaland Junior Achievement champion, National company and Best Marketing Junior Achievement company in Zimbabwe.

The gentlemen will be going to represent Zimbabwe in Gabon at the regional finals early April were they will face other African countries.

As part of their social responsibility they embark on clean up campaigns and pay school fees for three marginalised students at Tendanayi Government school in Nyanga under there Jazlite scholarship fund.

These students have not only created a tool but they have produced Zimbabwe’s solution to sustainable electronic learning.

They are indeed an example to many of there age through what they have done through their simulation company, Verity Holdings.
