Masakadza, Cremer in ICC T20I top 10

ZIMBABWEAN cricketers Hamilton Masakadza and Graeme Cremer have reaped rewards from their fine performances in the just ended Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh in the Asian country as they have broken into the top 10 of the MRF Tyres International Cricket Council T20I Player Rankings.

According to the rankings released by the ICC yesterday, Masakadza, who piled up 222 runs in the four matches against Bangladesh, including a career best 93 not out has seen the top order batsman jump eight places to eight in the batting table. Another Zimbabwean batsman Malcolm Waller with 128 runs in the four-match series has gone up to 39 to join South African Hashim Amla in 39th position.

Leg spinner Cremer’s six wickets against Bangladesh saw him gain 61 points and is now just two points behind third placed Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi.

Left arm spinner Tendai Chisoro, a bowler transformed from a seamer took four wickets which has given him a lift of 84 places that has him just outside the top 50 in 46th spot.

In the team rankings, Zimbabwe retained their 14th position while Bangladesh have dropped to 11th spot behind Scotland.

The two teams were using the series staged in Khulna to gear up for the ICC World T20 set for India from 8 March to 3 April.
