DANGAMVURA cricket poster boy, Vincent Masekesa etched his name into the spin bowling greats fraternity after taking a fifer on his Test match debut in Chattogram, Bangladesh.

The spin bowler managed to make the difference and resuscitate the Chevrons’ fightback with the ball after his off spin spell took five scalps for 115 runs from 31,2 overs on the third day of the second test match.

He joins the elite club led by Andy Blignaut 5-74 versus India in 2001 and John Nyumbu 5-157 versus South Africa in 2014.

Zimbabwe having posted 227 all out in the first innings, courtesy of Williams 67 (166) and Welch 54 (133) alongside Bennet 21 (33) have the mammoth task of whisking an overseas series win when they step in to bat.

The visitors ought to overtake Bangladesh’s massive lead of 217 runs after the hosts posted 444 in their allotted first innings due to Shadman Islam 120 (181), Mehidy Hassan Miraz 104 (162) and Tamim Sakib 41 (80) with the two latter batsmen putting up a fight in the tail end which amounted to 96 runs preventing an anticipated Bangladesh collapse.

The match is scheduled to conclude on Friday.

Meanwhile, Manicaland Cricket Association league have scheduled the domestic derby between Westside Cricket Club and Mutare Sports Club at Mutare Sports Club to 9am this Saturday.
