The gig, featuring the two Chitungwiza-based groups, will ignite memories from the past when the late Cephas Mashakada used to share the stage alongside Orchestra Mberikwazvo in their hometown.
Show organiser Victor Chiraga said the show serves to prove that Mashakada’s legacy lives on.
“This show seeks to prove that Mashakada’s legacy lives on with the help of Extrabasso (Macheso),” he said.
He said Macheso was one of the pillars in the music industry who has helped a number of artistes.
Chiraga also mentioned that the show would emphasise that even if a band leader dies, there is need for the remaining members to continue carrying the torch.
The Muddy Face, who lost their founding leader Mashakada last year to diabetes, has been flying under the wings of Macheso.
Shame “Chibage” Mashonganyika, who is now the leader of the group, is fitting well in the late Mashakada’s shoes with his high energy performances.
On the other hand, Macheso has held several shows with a number of artistes, among them upcoming Munyaradzi Mataruse during the Independence Eve Concert held at Jazz 105 in Harare.
Macheso has also held shows with Tryson Chimbetu and Peter Moyo.
