Matabeleland schoola��s rugby trials underway

MATABELELAND schools rugby trials for Under-14, 17 and 19 age troops will be conducted at Christian Brothers College and Bulawayoa��s home of rugby Hartsfield on Saturday.

The Under-14 age groupa��s trials will take place at CBC while the Under-17s and 19s will converge on Hartsfield from 8am to 4pm.

The schools that will feature include Petra, CBC, Milton, Plumtree, Gifford and a select team from the Western suburbs.

The trials are meant to pick players from each age group that are going to take part in the national trials to be held in Harare and Esigodini next weekend.

a�?From a rugby perspective, it is a great opportunity for the public, parents and the boys to put their best performances out there on the big stage. Let rugby be the winner,a�? said Zimbabwea��s headmaster in charge of rugby Reg Querl of Falcon College.

The players chosen on Saturday stand a chance of making the national teams for the annual Coca-Cola Youth Weeks in South Africa in July. Zimbabwe is sending boysa�� junior teams to the Under-13 Craven Week, Under-16 Grant Khomo Week, Under-18 Craven Week as well as the Academy Week.
