KWEKWE-based Maungira Edenga Choral Group co-founders, Sylvester and Everson Mutema, are said to be losing their minds in suspected spiritual attacks.
One Munyadzy Stark Chitongo posted in the Kwekwe Citizens Facebook group questioning the rumour, which turned out to be true.
“Ndine mubvunzo hama wandinetsa hanzi vakomana vedu mapatya ekuimbira Mwari ku Methodist vakurasika njere ishuwa here? Well known vachinzi vana Mhosva tiudzeiwo please,” he posted.
Another group member, Prudence Kagwende, confirmed the news.
“Ini Ndakanzwa kudaro,” he said.
Contacted for comment, Sylvester said they have been having spiritual attacks for over four months.
“For the past four and half months, it has not been well with us. These are spiritual attacks, not everyone you see is your friend.
“Some people want us dead, but Mwari variko kudenga will protect us,” said Sylvester.
The twin said prayer has helped them to manage the attacks.
“The attacks were severe, but at this point I don’t want to point fingers at anyone, but I just want to tell you that in life unorarama nevanhu vasingakufarire.
“Not everyone likes you, we sought help from different faith healers, but it could not help.
“Hapana kwatisina kuenda, we kept on doing our best to get help, but kumwe kwacho taitobva zvakuwedzera.
“We experienced hell, taimborasika pfungwa, but Mwari vakatirwira,” he said.
Sylvester said a close relative assisted them when he took them to Prophet Walter Magaya for prayers.
“Thomas Mazvanya, our brother, invited us to PHD Ministries where we got help from Prophet Walter Magaya.
“We want to thank Shepherd Chahwanda for financing our accommodation at the Guest House for more than a week.
“Special thanks go to Vurayai Marimo aka Bravo who helped us financially during this difficult time.”
Everson confirmed the incident and claims they were spiritual attacks.
“I can confirm it was spiritual attacks unlike rumours dzekuti takabatabata.
“These things wanted prayers and we got help.
“If we had juju why would we go for prayer intercession; we would have gone ikoko ka not zvirikutaurwa nevanhu vachiti zvinhu zvavakatora zvakuvanetsa.
“We went to the man of God because we knew we were clean, these were spiritual attacks.
“We have seen change and now everything is normal.”
Everson also said they are humbled by the love they got from fellow musicians, who kept checking on them.
“Some artistes like Suluman Chimbetu, Baba Harare and Bethen Pasinawako-Ngolomi were there for us during the worst period of our lives. We are humbled by such great love my brother.
“Mweya yetsvina iriko asi Mwari variko kudenga vakanzwa minamato yedu. We are planning to record songs telling people how we got attacked. Things were going bad every day,” he said.
Sylvester said Prophet Magaya promised to monitor their situation and to continue helping them till they are fine.
