HIGHLANDERS FC vice-captain Andrew Mbeba has signed a new contract with the Bulawayo giants amid growing speculation linking him with a move to rivals Dynamos.

Mbeba’s future had become the subject of intense debate after it emerged that Dynamos were interested in securing the services of the towering defender, whose previous contract with Highlanders had expired in December.

Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe did little to play down the speculation when he confirmed his admiration for the player.

“I don’t want to talk much about that one, but we all agree Andrew Mbeba is a good player. If it happens that we agree terms, he is a player we would love to have in our squad,” Mangombe said, sending a clear signal that the Harare giants were monitoring the situation closely.

However, the club has confirmed the signing of Mbeba. “The Club is delighted to confirm that defender Andrew Mbeba has officially committed his future to the club, signing a contract renewal that will keep him at the Club until December 2028.”
