MDC-T member defects to Zanu-PF

He said Zanu-PF’s clear people-oriented programmes had attracted him to join the party.
Mr Kagoti announced his defection during a field day at Chifundi Farm in Mhangura at the weekend.
He said the two MDC formations were only different in suffixes but remained organically the same.

Mr Kagoti was trounced by Zanu-PF candidate Dr Douglas Mombeshora before deciding to join the party.
“I have come back home after realising that Zanu-PF was the only party committed to uplifting the lives of the ordinary majority,” he said.
“The MDCs are all the same with nothing to offer the people of Zimbabwe and meet their aspirations.”

Kagoti said some in MDC-T were contemplating joining Zanu-PF after getting a raw deal from the Morgan Tsvangirai-led party.
The defection comes soon after the MDC-T leader admitted his party has been saddled with defections.
In Matebeleland, MDC-T members have been reportedly joining the Professor Welshman Ncube-led formation.

Announcing the defection of his rival, Dr Mombeshora said Zanu-PF accepts people who re-join the party following laid out procedures.
“We are a party that accepts its prodigal sons so that they can come to strengthen the party and boost our numbers,” he said.

“We appreciate those who realise their folly and come back to the party that has the interests of the people at heart.”
Dr Mombeshora warned people against shutting out those who return to the party saying the returnees added value to the party.
He said such people were more knowledgeable and better equipped to explain to the people that MDC has nothing to offer.
