MDC-T not ready for elections

Addressing journalists after meeting the president of the Chiefs’ Council of Zimbabwe, Chief Fortune Charumbira, in Harare yesterday, Mr Tsvangirai said a review of the inclusive Government’s achievements was necessary before polls.

The meeting followed a plea by Mr Tsvangirai to meet the Chiefs’ Council president during the traditional leaders’ recent meeting in Victoria Falls.

Mr Tsvangirai said he wanted to explore ways of improving relations with traditional leaders..

After the meeting, he said: “While the country is in the process of recovery, we need to review what we have achieved in the past two years and see what is good for us.

“Elections yes, but why don’t we find a common ground and vision on national issues like independence and sovereignty.

“The tension that we are having in Government does not help.

“We should discuss where there are problems and discussion helps to break the impasse.” – The Herald.
