Nigel Landelani Thole, a 20-year-old vocalist from Nkulumane suburb in Bulawayo, is making waves in the music industry under his stage name, Macala.

Macala’s educational journey took him from Mabhukudwana Primary School to Nkulumane High and Ihlathi High School, where he completed his O’Level courses. He began his singing career at a young age and shifted his focus to music in 2016, releasing four single tracks this year.

He draws inspiration from everyday life situations and cites Mlindo the Vocalist, a musician from South Africa, as a significant influence.
“I’m an up-and-coming artiste specialising in Afro-pop, Amapiano, and Maskandi music, and I am best known as Macala the Vocalist. I was born with a gift of music, and I feel it deeply within me. I sing about everyday experiences, with my songs exploring themes of love, and the challenges of drug and substance abuse,” Macala explained.

He shared the impact of his music, noting that tracks like “Amacala” and “Ncedani” have helped many of his listeners find solace and healing from heartbreak and battles with drug and substance abuse.

Recently, Macala had the opportunity to showcase his talent at the Hustlers Summit in Bulawayo, an event that gave him a platform to reach a broader audience.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to Mzoe7, Keaitse Films, and the organisers of the Hustlers Summit for giving me the chance to showcase my talent to high school students. I received positive feedback, with many saying my music inspires them,” he shared.

Looking forward, Macala is determined to use his musical platform to inspire youth.
“I hope to inspire other talented children to believe in their dreams, stay away from drugs, and other harmful activities through my music. I urge everyone to stay humble and work hard, as this is the only key to success,” he concluded.
