THE Council of African Apostles returns to Zimbabwe in February and it will bring together great minds that are keen on tackling issues that are affecting the continent from a pan-African and Christian perspective.
The initiative is a brainchild of like-minded African apostles such as Dr Mensa Otabil (Ghana), Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams (Ghana), Bishops Tudor Bismark (Zimbabwe), Enock Sitima (Botswana) and Mike Okonkwo (Nigeria), among others.
Local members of the council include AFM in Zimbabwe’s Dr Aspher Madziyire, Reverend Alexander Chisango (Kingdom International and Nations of Christ), Dr Goodwill Shana (Word of Life International Ministries), Apostle Charles Chiriseri (His Presence Ministries International) and Apostle Langton Gatsi (His Presence Ministries). Other Members also come from South Africa, Malawi, Zambia, Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo, among others.
This week, we give you profiles of some of the executive members.
Dr Mensa Otabil

Dr Mensa Otabil is a pastor, educator, entrepreneur and consultant. He is the founder and general overseer of the International Central Gospel Church with its network of local churches, multifaceted ministries and initiatives in Ghana. The church also has extensive outreaches in other parts of Africa, Europe and the United States.
He provides challenge and inspiration for individuals and organisations to reach beyond the confines of their current experiences. The uniqueness of his ministry and messages are found in their cross-over appeal to both church and corporate audiences
Dr. Otabil is the founder and chancellor of Ghana’s premier private university — The Central University College, the chief executive and consultant of Otabil and Associates and also an executive and leadership growth consultancy.
He presents the “Living Word” programme on both radio and television. Pastor Otabil and his wife Joy live in Accra, Ghana and are parents to four children.
Bishop Joe Imakando

Bishop Imakando is the presiding bishop of Bread of life Church International, which was established in 1992. He is an apostle, teacher, author, conference speaker, broadcaster, bridge builder and adviser whose ministry has taken him to many nations.
Bishop Imakando has served as Executive Director for Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), an umbrella body that unites Pentecostal and Evangelical churches in Zambia. In 2010, Bishop Imakando was elected President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), an organisation that has 10 southern Africa countries affiliated to it. His ministry is characterised by a strong apostolic favour which has resulted in the birth of many mission churches and impartations.
He has authored several books including the “Key Ingredients to Success”.
He is married to Pastor Bernadette Imakando and has four children.
Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Bishop Okonkwo established The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) which was founded on January 4 1981. Bishop Okonkwo is one of the founding fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), the first national secretary general and the immediate past national president of the PFN. He is the current vice-chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as well as an executive member of the National Ministers Conference (NMC). He is a man of fervent prayer and has integrity in the word of God. He has become an apostolic covering for many ministries around the world. He has authored several books in English, two of which have been translated into French. He is a widely travelled man who believes in rural evangelism, among other passions. He is married to Dr Peace Okonkwo and they are blessed with a daughter, Uche.
