Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) listed hospitality group, African Sun Limited, has appointed Lloyd Mhishi as the new chairman of the board, effective July 8, 2024.

Mhishi, a practicing legal practitioner, academic and author, has over 30 years of legal experience, serving as an associate and partner in well-known law firms in the country, as well as the founding and senior partner of Mhishi Nkomo Legal Practice.

He has also served as a non-executive director for several organisations, including the Zimbabwe Cricket Union, FBC Building Society and Ecobank Zimbabwe Limited.

Mhishi’s appointment comes after he joined the African Sun Board on May 1, 2021, and was subsequently appointed as the lead independent director on June 30, 2023.

He is a past president of the Law Society of Zimbabwe and has also served as a commissioner on the Judicial Service Commission.

Mhishi is the author of two published books, “The Law & Practice of Conveyancing in Zimbabwe” (2005) and “Being the Best Lawyer” (2023). He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Master of Laws, and Master of Business Administration (Finance) degrees.

“The Board congratulates Lloyd on his appointment and wishes him every success in his new role,” said African Sun.

The appointment of Mhishi as the new chairman comes after the retirement of Constantine Chikosi, who had served in the position for five years. The board extended its sincere gratitude to Chikosi for his exemplary leadership and invaluable contributions during his tenure.

African Sun Limited is poised to capitalize on the growing demand for meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibitions (MICE) business, as well as several high-profile events. The group has set aside $11 million in capital expenditure for 2024, focusing on information technology, product enhancements, and property upgrades.
