Mhondoro women form co-operatives

Women in Mhondoro-Ngezi have moved a step up in implementing Government’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset, by launching agricultural co-operatives to improve food security at household level.

One of the clusters in Zim-Asset identifies food security and nutrition as key drivers of economic revival.

The co-operatives are being spearheaded by former legislator for the area Cde Bright Matonga under the name — Chirauro (fishing rod) — and members are producing vegetables, tomatoes, chickens and other food crops.

Officially opening one of the co-operatives recently, Mhondoro-Ngezi lands and environment officer Mrs Mavis Mhlanga said the ventures had made a contribution towards food self-sufficiency in the area.
