The Mighty Warriors drew 2-2 with the Pharaohs in their opening match on Monday night in controversial circumstances.
A victory for the Cosafa champions would see them going on top of the log with four points and they will then wait for the outcome of the match between Egypt and Tunisia on Friday to see who lifts the trophy.
Tunisia are a better team than Egypt and early this year played South Africa in the London 2012 Olympic qualifiers but failed to progress after losing to Banyana Banyana.
Yesterday, Mighty Warriors’ technical advisor Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe said his charges should continue from where they left against Egypt.
“Unfortunately, we failed to win but the girls really did well and tried as hard they could do.
“We wasted many chances and in our sessions today(yesterday) we worked on the finishing with the girls and hopefully we will come right in the game,” said Jongwe.
The Mighty Warriors spurned a lot of chances and their goals came from defensive midfielders Talent Mandaza and Emmaculate Msipa.
A number of chances fell to chief striker Rudo Neshamba but the Inline Academy forward was found wanting on all the occasions while her partner Rutendo Makore, playing her first match for the senior team, also failed to shine.
The Kiglon gaffer said the games in Cairo are giving his team the exposure they need as they prepare for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
“We don’t want to dwell much on refereeing, it was good for us to experience it because as we go forward we will meet such things.
“And I am glad the team managed to do well under such conditions.
“If we continue with our play we should do well against Tunisia and hopefully the officiating will also be better.
“We should field a strong team in this match and unfortunately our defender Lynette (Magozore), who was red carded, is no longer part of the proceedings here but we have other players who can fit in the defence.
“Patience Mujuru, who came in after the sending off, showed she can hold the fort and is likely to partner Danai Bhobho.
“There shouldn’t be many changes to the team, it did well but we will see how it goes,” said Jongwe.
Midfield star Marjoury Nyaumwe, who had a brilliant game in the middle of the park is expected to shine for Zimbabwe again, ably assisted by the hardworking Tsitsi Mairosi and Sheila Makoto. who did well on the left link in the absence of Nokuthula Ndlovu.
Meanwhile, head coach Rosemary Mugadza arrived yesterday from South Africa where she was attending a post Fifa Women’s Soccer World Cup workshop.
She will lead her troops in their last match today.
