Early showers did not deter Hwedza folks from dancing, singing along, and enjoying music from different artists who had come to perform for a Christmas gala held at Machakaire Village, Makanda.
Musicians rarely stage shows at the rural spot and it was a memorable event for most music followers.
Organised by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training of Zimbabwe,Tino Machakaire, the event featured top entertainers like Alick Macheso, Peter Moyo,Killer T, and Dorcas Moyo among others.
Most of the folks said It was a rare opportunity for them.
Over 50 medical specialists were on the ground to test, diagnose, and treat different conditions on the spot, including taking some referrals, also free of charge.
Those with different disabilities got wheelchairs, crutches and different motion aides.
Minister Machakaire said he decided to organise the medical outreach programme as part of his initiative to address ailments across the area and the country.
“This event was designed to give a hand to those who need it during this Christmas. “We scanned around and realised that we had people with different ailments for which they need help.
“We have brought a lot of specialists to look into that.
“Everyone was treated for free and some were recommended for further specialist treatment elsewhere.
“Last year we had over 2000 beneficiaries and we are expecting more,” said Minister Machakaire.
