The Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo yesterday toured Proton Bakers in Marondera and applauded them for creating employment for locals.
Advocate Ndudzo’s tour was aimed at understanding the operations of one of the largest organisations in Zimbabwe, as well as knowing the company’s challenges.
The Minister applauded the organisation for investing in the latest machinery and creating employment for hundreds of locals.
He reiterated Government’s commitment to create a conducive environment for investors, which is in sync with the ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ mantra.
Technical director of Proton Bakers, Mr Spiros Tselentis thanked Government for creating an enabling environment.
He also highlighted a recent investment of over US$3 million, which has seen the company acquiring a new bread-making plant, a biscuit production line, warehouse expansion, and additional delivery vehicles. “Such level of investment is a testament to other investors, both local and foreign, that Zimbabwe is indeed open for business,” Mr Tselentis said.
