Miss Universe Contestant from Panama Disqualified After Unauthorized Visit from Boyfriend

A contestant representing Panama in the Miss Universe pageant has been sent home just hours before the grand finale.

Italy Mora was disqualified ahead of the event, which is scheduled to take place in Mexico on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The official reason for her dismissal has not been announced, but reports from the New York Post say she was removed because her boyfriend, Juan Abadia, visited her in his hotel room without permission.

Mora denied these rumors and explained that she was expelled after a heated argument with Cesar Anel Rodriguez, the director of Miss Universe Panama. She claimed the argument was about the pageant’s poor organization.

During the dispute, her boyfriend mentioned that he had paid for her expenses, including a $7,000 dress by Carolina Herrera, due to the organization’s failures.

Mora was ultimately sent home after pageant staff found her with her boyfriend, leading to the claims of an unauthorized visit.(Afrogazette)
