FOUR robbers raided a money transfer agent in Ngundu before stealing more than US$46 300 and R924 000.
The incident occurred on November 25, 2024, and police have since launched a manhunt for the robbers who are still at large.
Investigations revealed that the robbers who were armed with pistols confronted a teller who works at the shop while he was on his way home after closing.
They took him back to the shop where they took a safe containing the cash. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“Police in Masvingo are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of robbery which occurred on November 25, 2024, at a money transfer outlet in Ngundu,” he said.
“Four male suspects who were wielding pistols confronted a teller who works at the money transfer shop. The teller was on his way home after he had finished work.
“The suspects forced him to go back to the outlet and compelled him to open the safe before stealing US$46 349 cash and R 924 100. Anyone with information should contact any nearest police station,” he said.
