MONTROSE High School, one of the few single-sex schools in Bulawayo, remains steadfast in its pursuit of academic excellence by delivering outstanding results. Located in the heart of Bulawayo at the corner of Dundee Drive and Van Riebeeck, Morningside, the school has been one of the most sought-after institutions in the city since its establishment in 1971.
In an interview, the school head, Sekai Chikavanga Mafuva, noted that the school has undergone significant development over the years, offering a comprehensive range of subjects.
Mafuva said that they offer a diverse range of subjects catering for the varied interests of students at both Ordinary and Advanced Level, with 18 subjects available at the Advanced Level.

“Apart from that, we also offer Hexco subjects and plan to introduce horticulture, computer science, catering, arts and craft as well as garment construction,” she said.
According to Mafuva, the school recorded an overall pass rate of 100 percent in the 2024 A-level examinations compared to 85,1 percent in 2023.
“Several subjects, including Crop Science, Economics, Art, Business Studies, Food and Technology Design, Family and Religious Studies, History, Literature in English, Ndebele and Physical Education, achieved a remarkable 100 percent pass rate.

This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our learners and teachers.”
Speaking on the ordinary level performance, Mafuva expressed enthusiasm, citing that the overall pass rate was above the national level, with many learners obtaining As and Bs.
The school also recognises extra-curricular activities that encompass health and life skills, baking and busy hands clubs, among others.
