More women turn to ‘mubobobo’

Simba Chiminya Religion Correspondent —
The Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association sensationally claims that there is a sharp increase in women using mubobobo — charms that reportedly allow users to have “remote” sexual intercourse with an unsuspecting person. Zinatha inspectorate member Tichakunda Bote, also known as Sekuru Katerere, attributed the increased use of mubobobo to get-rich-quick gimmicks, though he said some women were looking for sexual satisfaction.

Previously, the practice was predominantly found among men but it seems women are getting in on the act.

“Now we have some rogue healers who sell these charms to women who want to get rich quickly. They take men’s semen to use as seed in their rituals so that they accumulate wealth overnight. Through mubobobo, women appear in a man’s dreams and the victim will have wet dreams and ejaculate. They have a way of collecting the seed for their use,” said Sekuru Katerere.

“Then there are others who are using it to quench their sexual gratification. Many men these days suffer erectile dysfunctional due to various reasons like stress, alcohol abuse and low sex drive; so some women resort to these charms which are advertised by some healers.

“Generally men have too much pride or are shy to come out in the open, especially for failing to satisfy their spouses. In most cases, wives notice such things and force husbands to consult witchdoctors. But as healers, we have a way of helping men and put a security around them so that they don’t get abused again.”

The claims come after a case involving Esther Moyo under Chief Wedza of Zvishavane who confessed that she had “remotely” bedded a “lot of men in the area to quench her sexual appetite”.
