THE Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is presently bringing significant rainfall across the Midlands and Mashonaland provinces of Zimbabwe.
Notable rainfall amounts have been recorded, including 54mm in Mvurwi, 48mm in Mutoko, 47mm in Gokwe, and 37mm in Mount Darwin. Additionally, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, and southern Manicaland are experiencing cloudy and cooler conditions, accompanied by isolated afternoon showers due to the ITCZ.
The Meteorological Service Department (MSD) reported that other regions were seeing mostly cloudy skies with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms, contributing to a dynamic and unpredictable weather pattern.
Looking ahead, the department anticipates that a middle-level anticyclonic circulation will gradually dry out the atmosphere, leading to a reduction in widespread rainfall activity over the next few days.
This morning, Masvingo and southern parts of Manicaland can expect partly cloudy and cool conditions with brief cloudy periods, while the rest of the country will remain partly cloudy and mild.
In the afternoon, residents of Matabeleland North, all of Mashonaland, Harare Metropolitan, and northern Manicaland should prepare for cloudy and warm weather, with scattered thunderstorms, potentially becoming heavy in areas like Binga, Kariba, and Karoi. Other regions are likely to remain mostly cloudy with isolated showers.
As night falls, conditions are expected to be partly cloudy and mild, with light rain possible in the northern provinces.
As the ITCZ continues to influence the weather, residents are urged to stay informed and prepared for changing conditions that may impact agricultural activities and daily routines.
