A MOTORIST shot a security guard in a parking area of The Don night club in Warren Park D, Harare, on Sunday before threatening to shoot anyone who wanted to help the injured guard.
The motorist, who was driving a Ford Ranger, registration number ACT 2324, then fled from the scene.
The guard was shot on the right thigh.
The two had exchanged harsh words after the security guard accused the motorist of blocking entrance into the night club, which is a very popular joint on Sunday nights.
The motorist pulled out an unidentified pistol and shot the guard once on the right thigh.
When other witnesses tried to help the guard, who was lying helpless on the ground, the motorist cocked his firearm again and threatened to shoot anyone offering assistance to the guard.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case, appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the motorist.
“Police are investigating an attempted murder case at a bar in Warren Park,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances are that on March 9, 2025, at around 0000 hours, the complainant was at the front gate of The Don Bar and Grill, Chidewe Shopping Centre in Warren Park D, Harare.
“The complainant had an altercation with the accused person who was parked at The Don Bar and Grill entrance and blocking the way for other motorists.
“An altercation arose leading to the mishap.
“The complainant sustained a gunshot wound on the right thigh and was rushed to Suburban Hospital in Warren Park 1 where he was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for further treatment,” said Insp Chakanza.
