FC BARCELONA Legend Xavi, who has his eyes set on management when he officially retires, has aimed a dig at Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho’s rigid tactical system has often been overlooked in the past due to his impressive record of winning silverware at the club’s he’s managed.
However, at United, as a team with an ingrained philosophy of fluid attacking football, his tactical methods have come under scrutiny amidst their inconsistent form of late.
And Xavi, who will step into management once his playing days are over, says he would never set a team up in the manner the Portuguese tactician has.
“Mourinho is a very defensive manager and playing against his Inter wasn’t easy,” Xavi told Corriere dello Sport.
“That’s his football and he put it in practice even with Chelsea and Real.
“He cares about all the details, he shuts all the gaps and he doesn’t give you much space.
“I like another kind of football. It’s not a criticism to him, but I don’t enjoy playing football in that way and my teams won’t ever have that attitude.” — KickOff . .
