Mozambique supports Okonjo-Iweala candidature

a meeting of African finance, planning and development ministers in Addis Ababa.
Couto said that Okonjo-Iweala’s candidacy represents the interests of Africa, and she was in a better position to understand the problems of the continent and create conditions for solving them.
“It’s not that previous World Bank leaders have ignored Africa,” AIM quoted Couto as saying. Being an African, said Couto, she could therefore be the person best suited to improve the partnerships we need between Africa and them to develop the world.   Mozambique becomes the fourth country to announce publicly its support for Okonjo-Iweala.
The others include South Africa, Angola and Nigeria itself. Ever since they were set up, the Bretton Woods institutions have been dominated by the industrialised countries of the north. — Xinhua.
