Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo recently received a state-of-the-art water purifying plant, medicines and blankets all worth $23,000.The donation from the United Kingdom based church, Rivers of Living Waters Ministries is part of the church’s $28,000 support initiative meant to benefit the hospital.

Reverend Alan Clarredge handed over the donation on behalf of the church.

He said the $28,000 was raised from awareness campaigns on the plight of patients especially at big hospitals like Mpilo. Reverend Clarredge said the church had in the past donated to Kadoma District Hospital, Esigodini District Hospital and Binga District Hospital among other health institutions in Zimbabwe.

He said the church realised that provision of safe drinking water was the major challenge at Mpilo hence the decision to donate a water purifying plant.

Reverend Clarredge said the donated water purifier was simple, durable and user friendly.

Speaking after receiving the donation, the hospital CEO, Dr Lawrence Mantiziba, said the plant would guarantee patients clean and safe drinking water.  He said such donations go a long way in enabling the hospital to execute its mandate of providing quality health services.
