MANICALAND State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) is celebrating one of its own, Courtney Tadiwanashe Jongwe, who has embarked on a journey to represent Zimbabwe on the global stage at the 72nd Miss World pageant, set to take place on May31, 2025 in Telangana, India.
A student of Chemical and Processing Engineering, Courtney has, not only demonstrated academic excellence, but has also captured the nation’s attention with her charisma, cultural pride, and exceptional grace.
She earned the national crown of Miss World Zimbabwe at a prestigious event held in Harare last year, positioning her to be Zimbabwe’s ambassador in one of the most celebrated international beauty competitions.
Speaking before her departure, Courtney expressed her gratitude and patriotic pride in representing her country.
“I am thrilled to represent Zimbabwe. I cannot wait to showcase the beauty, strength, and culture of Zimbabwe at a global level,” she said.
“My participation in this year’s colourful pageant is a runway for purpose, patriotism and power. I want to thank Zimbabweans for the love and support as I embark on this incredible journey.”
She joins over 100 contestants from across the world in the Miss World pageant, which is, not only known for celebrating beauty, but also for championing humanitarian causes through its globally recognised Beauty with a Purpose initiative.
Founded in 1951, Miss World is the oldest-running international beauty contest and has grown into a platform for inspiring positive change.
MSUAS, located on the periphery of Fern Valley suburb of Mutare, proudly celebrated Jongwe’s achievement through a heartfelt social media post, stating:
“MSUAS proudly celebrates Jongwe’s exceptional achievement and commends her for embodying the university’s values of intellect, cultural pride and empowerment. Her journey is a shining example of the institution’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who excel both academically and socially.”
The university added: “Congratulations, Courtney! The entire MSUAS community stands with you as you carry the Zimbabwean flag with grace, pride and excellence.”
Jongwe’s journey to Miss World is more than a personal milestone, it is a reflection of the resilience, talent, and cultural pride of Zimbabwean youth. As she graces the global stage, she carries with her not just a crown, but the aspirations of a nation.
Her participation also highlights the growing influence of women in STEM fields who are breaking boundaries, not only in laboratories and lecture halls but also in spheres that celebrate femininity, intelligence, and social impact.
Courtney Tadiwanashe Jongwe is not just walking a runway; she is walking a legacy of empowerment and national pride.
