Mt Darwin bank loses US$700k

THREE suspected armed robbers seized more than US$700 000 from a bank in Mt Darwin yesterday morning, police confirmed.

The incident happened at around 2am.

“Three unknown suspects, armed with pistols, pounced on the bank, attacked the security guard who was on duty at the premises and then broke into the bank, where they blasted open a safe and stole approximately US$700 000 and 2,4 kilogrammes of gold,” said the police on their X handle.

More details on the issue are expected today.
