A WOMAN accused of being involved in the death of a suspected thief has been granted bail by the Harare High Court.
Doreen Dumbujena (49) was one of eight people charged with murder following the death of Learnmore Kambamura.
He was allegedly assaulted after being accused of stealing property.
Dumbujena was granted $50 000 bail and ordered to report to Mutawatawa Police Station once every two weeks.
She pleaded not guilty and claimed that she had only been observing from a distance when Kambamura was attacked.
She was also ordered not to directly or indirectly interfere with witnesses.
It is the State’s case that on May 5, the eight pounced on Kambamura at Nyakusamwa Village, and assaulted him accusing him of stealing their property.
He was later taken to one Kudakwashe Chibhagidhi’s homestead where he revealed the assault.
Chibhagidhi reported the matter to the police, leading to the gang’s arrest.
Kambamura was rushed to Mutawatawa Hospital where he died on admission.
