A Chisumbanje man fatally struck a 17-year-old teenager who had fondled his 14-year-old niece’s breasts and buttocks.
The deceased, Kudakwashe Nyamunda’s body was found the following day in a bush after he had succumbed to head injuries.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident which happened in Chidzirurwi Village under Chief Musikavanhu’s area.
The suspect, Boniface Mudhumbu (39) has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
On June 1, the juvenile informed Mudhumbu that Nyamunda had fondled her breasts and buttocks on her way from the borehole.
An irate Mudhumbu proceeded to Nyamunda’s homestead and confronted him.
“Mudhumbu returned home. The following day, Muonei Muyambo found Nyamunda’s body in a bush about 100 metres from his homestead. Muonei alerted the village head, Partson Muyambo, who reported the matter at Chisumbanje Police Station.
“Police attended the scene and arrested Mudhumbu. Nyamunda’s body was conveyed to St Peter’s Mission Hospital mortuary for post-mortem,” said Inspector Muzondo.
Inspector Muzondo urged people to solve disputes amicably and desist from taking the law into their own hands.
