SINCE the release of the anthemic and soul-stirring track, “Anondinyara”, from her ground-breaking 2003 album, “Fambai Neni”, legendary gospel diva, Agatha Murudzwa, has stood the test of time with grace, solidifying her position as a paragon of timeless talent and unwavering artistry on the gospel music scene.
Her powerful voice and deeply moving lyrics have resonated through the years, earning her a cherished spot in the hearts of fans in Mutare and beyond.
With each note, she has, not only shaped the gospel music landscape, but also inspired generations of listeners, proving that her artistry is both enduring and uplifting.
Murudzwa’s career continues to shine as a beacon of timeless talent, unwavering faith and unyielding dedication to her craft.
Now based in Harare, Murudzwa, a mother of three, has revealed to Weekender Entertainment that she has more to offer.
This year promises to be exciting, with a gospel music festival scheduled for March in Mutare, her hometown.
Additionally, she plans to release music videos for songs from her two projects — “Sufficient Grace” and “Rehoboth” — both released last year.
“Sufficient Grace”, released in March last year carries the popular song “Ndinomutenda Nei”, which features Baba Mechanic Manyeruke.
Murudzwa’s journey, marked by dedication and an unwavering commitment to her craft, stands as a shining example of how true artistry transcends time, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who listen.
“Plans are already underway to host two annual gospel festivals in Mutare. These have been trending in Harare, and I am sure gospel music lovers in Mutare will be in love with them too. This will be an event where more than 20 gospel artistes drawn from across the country will converge for a day-long family gig. It will be a moment of celebrating God and life. We will all be praising God through music. It will be open for everyone. We have been engaging various stakeholders to partner with us to make the event a success,” said the gospel diva.
Murudzwa, who is in her 40s, boasts 17 albums, and will be releasing an 18th project later this year.
She added: “It has been a wonderful journey. I will never tire preaching through music. It has been a rollercoaster journey, with unique ups and downs.
““God has seen me through, and my wish is to empower and mould some young female artistes who will emulate my works, helping to spread the word of God in song.”
