MUTARE West legislator and Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Christopher Mushohwe has urged losing candidates in Zanu-PF primary elections to abandon personal interests and work closely with those standing for the ruling party in the July 30 elections.
Cde Mushohwe said such a spirit would guarantee the party a resounding win.
He conceded that despite losing in the primary elections, he would be working closely with Zanu-PF’s aspiring candidate for Mutare West, Cde Percy Muchimwe, to ensure President Mnangagwa and the party win the elections.
He said this while addressing members of the Zanu-PF leadership and other stakeholders at a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) disbursement strategic meeting held at Bambazonke Business Centre in Marange recently.
“We are now going into elections and our candidate number one is President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, second is Cde (Percy) Muchimwe and third is the ward councillor,” he said.
He said Zanu-PF wanted to foster a spirit of working together for a resounding win in the 2018 elections adding that no one was bigger than the party.
Cde Mushohwe also promised to continue working and disbursing CDF funds for the betterment of his constituency.
He revealed that he had negotiated with the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) on poultry projects for women with each ward expected to receive 1 000 birds.
Negotiations for piggery projects for youths were also in the pipeline, he told his audience.
“The plans and bill of quantities have already been submitted to ZCDC and the approved and agreed to support us. So they are going to support us,” he said.
Cde Mushohwe said he was also talking to the diamond mining company to open up employment opportunities for people of Marange.
He said they held a data capturing exercise in his ward, which had since been presented to ZCDC for consideration.
“The motive behind this is that they should consider people from our area with qualifications of specific prospective job opportunities that would have arisen first and later search from outside Marange if no one qualifies,” he said.
Through CDF, various projects such as construction of weirs, dip tanks, schools as well as clinics are at various stages of completion in Mutare West with building material having been delivered to the sites.
