Zimbabwe’s top brains in music management will exchange notes under one roof at The Grub Restaurant in Harare on October
17.
A brainchild of the Music Management Forum (MMFZ), the event is aimed at creating synergies and cooperation among
musicians’ managers.
The event will also explore some of the challenges faced in the sector which need a collective effort.
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe Napoleon Nyanhi is the guest speaker.
Leading personalities in music management comprising Walter Wanyanya, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, Tich Mataz, Diana
Nheera and Rumbi Chakanza are expected at the event.
Musicians Andy Muridzo, Wevhu,Ronald Stone, Mannex Motsi, Junior Bantan and Sarah Dee are also expected to grace the
event.
Music Management Forum secretary general and spokesperson, Russel Mavudzi, said the event was meant to create synergies.
“Networking is critical for bringing the industry practitioners together for knowledge sharing, interfacing, and educating on
music managers and future plans,” he said.
“Music management is a critical aspect of that. We want to add the strategic insight of music to the raw talent and
commercialise it profitably and sustainably.
“As MMFZ, we are bringing all the music key stakeholders from regulators to artists, artist managers, event planners and
promoters, music producers, to have a night of understanding key principles.
“We are discussing music trends in Zimbabwe, contract negotiation, artist management and marketing strategies.
“The platform we are creating is a high-level networking event that seeks to promote our organisation and what it stands for
and build capacity for our artists and managers.”
He also mentioned urgent attention.
” Education of our artists needs to be skilled to understand the music industry and that talent alone is not enough is one area
that we are going to touch on,” he said.
“We are also going to handle financial management and how to deal with the corporate world. Since there are very few.”
