adminWINLESS Mutare City Rovers will take their hunt for maximum points to Zvishavane where they will entertain fellow Premiership rookies, Border Strikers at either Mandava or Maglas Stadium on Sunday.
Just like Mutare City Rovers, Border Strikers are without a win in the three matches that they have played in the Castle Lager Premiership so far this season.
Mutare City Rovers gaffer, Taku Shariwa, who appears to have breathed life into Rovers’ style of play after an improved performance against DeMbare on Sunday, said he would take each match as it comes with the aim of collecting points.
“I think just like any other match it will not be an easy encounter for us. Given that all the teams in the league are gunning for maximum points to evade relegation, the match against Border Strikers will not be an easy one at all.
“We are going to Zvishavane with the aim of getting maximum points because we just have to prove that we deserve support by winning our matches.
“By winning our matches we instill confidence in our prospective supporters and that is one way we can be guaranteed of support as a team, or even corporate support,” said Shariwa.
A second penalty by Marvellous Mukumba was enough for 10-men Triangle to collect maximum points against Border Strikers in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Gibbo over the weekend.
In that encounter, Triangle were forced to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men after Courage Denias was sent for an early shower after a second bookable offence.
Border Strikers are yet to register a win after round three of the Castle Lager Premiership matches and they have already faced two teams that finished in the top four last season, losing 1-0 to both champions Chicken Inn and Triangle.
It was another sad day in office for their well travelled gaffer, Saul Chaminuka who lost 1-2 at the same venue in the game that contributed to quashing hopes of survival when he was in charge of the relegated Buffaloes last season.
